ROORKEE-“Educational Hub and Industrial Town”. Roorkee is a city in North India andit is also a municipal corporation in the Haridwar district of the state of Uttarakhand, India. The city is developed on the banks of Ganges Canal which flows from north–south through middle of the city. Roorkee is also a home to Asia’s first engineering college Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, which is known as Thomson College of Civil Engineering. Roorkee is also known for the Roorkee Cantonment which is one of the country’s oldest military establishments and the headquarters of Bengal Engineer Group since 1853. It is established under Shivalik Himalayan Ranges which offers breath-taking views of mountains from flat terrain area of Roorkee.

Roorkee derives its name from Ruri, the wife of tribal chieftain of the Rajputs. You can reach Roorkee by any means of transport as it is connected through roads, rails and by air. The nearest airport is in Dehradun at a distance of 46kms. You can easily get regular trains to Roorkee from other major cities of the country. Buses are connected to all major cities as well as states so can easily reach Roorkee.
